David Grenier, Owner
David is a former Navy SEAL and Marine Grunt. After 12 years of service and multiple combat deployments, he decided to leave the Teams to help his wife care for their special needs child. Through his transition from the SEALs to civilian life, he worked in numerous roles- hedge fund associate, private equity director, oil and gas logistics owner, real estate investor, sales, and obtained an MBA from Columbia University. He realized that his civilian experience had one thing in common- a lack of purpose and an overall lack of life. He was tired of working with people whose values didn’t align with what was instilled in him from the SEALs and Marines. He realized this was wearing on his mental health tremendously and was going in a downward spiral that he couldn’t dig himself out of. Thank God his wife and some old friends realized what was going on before it was too late, and sent him OCONUS to undergo an unconventional therapy for Special Operators that changed his life forever. Through his own healing, he realized how important wellness and family were to him and wanted to start a business that could not only fill the lack of purpose he felt, but also impact the people around him. And that’s how Hero Grain was born! He started making flags for nonprofits so they could auction the item and raise funds for their cause. He made flags for his brothers that were going through rough times, and ones that touched his life in the past. He didn’t want fellow combat vets to go through the rough transition he had, so he created a work environment where those heroes could truly thrive and have purpose again. He realized that not only was woodworking providing active therapy that contributed to wellness, but that the outcome of his work was touching people’s lives! He got his life back and truly feels blessed for the good and bad times, and for what the future holds.
